Financial Planning for Individuals

This in one of the most important services we provide for our clients. We help them think about what their actual income needs are now and what they will be once they reach retirement. We have wonderful tools to help forecast the income produced from their portfolios and how their assets will grow over time, and plan for any legacy they would like to leave for beneficiaries. We also help with planning for goals, such as: home purchases, education, weddings, travel, gifting & many more.

Portfolio Management

The foundation of our practice is to set up our client's portfolios to meet their risk, return and time horizon parameters. Getting the appropriate portfolio mix for each client is paramount to meeting their goals within their individual comfort levels. This provides our clients with a good understanding how the portfolio will perform over-time and in all market conditions.

401K Rollovers

We have a open conversation with our client to make sure a potential 401(k) rollover into an individual IRA makes sense. The benefits typically include: active asset management, better investment selections & asset classes, more holistic portfolio insight for our team and more favorable fees with asset aggregation.

Insurance Planning

We help our clients decide if insurance is a good fit for them and their portfolio, taking into consideration their individual family dynamic's. It is important to make sure family is taken care of, in the event of an unexpected loss. We help them think through coverage amounts needed, and decide between permanent or term policies. We have access with over 30 insurance providers to get the proper coverage for their individual and family needs.

Annuities

We have honest conversation with our clients to see in variable or fixed annuities make sense for their individual needs. They can make sense for clients who are looking for lifetime income, but are often hard to understand and can be expensive. We help our clients understand how they work and how they might make sense. That said, they are not always the best option.

Estate Planning & Trusts

With a deep level of understanding of the estate tax landscape both at the federal & state level, we help our clients frame comprehensive plans. We have several estate tax lawyers we work with to put the estate plans in place. We have an in-house trust company for our clients who wish to have institution act as trustee or more commonly co-trustee.

Tax Advice and Services

We manage our taxable portfolios to minimize capital gains to the maximum extent we can. We will rarely take short-term capital gains, and factor the potential tax consequence of every trade we make. By doing all of the trading in-house we are able to accomplish a high level of tax efficiency.

Education Funding and Planning

This goes hand in hand with our overall portfolio & retirement planning.

Investment Advice & Management

This goes hand in hand with portfolio management. We strive to have the proper mix of assets to meet our clients goals in a risk framework they are comfortable with. Once a portfolio mix is agreed upon, we customize the individual investments depending on a client's income needs and tax situation. All of the trading is done by Mark Ackerman & Nick Maley on an ongoing basis. By not shipping the assets to outside managers we are able to keep capital gains to a minimum. We strongly believe in the concept of "it's not what you make, but what you keep".
